Abstract:
In 1998 the World Fair, Expo '98, took place in the city of Lisbon, Portugal. The site for the Expo was created by clearing an area in the northeastern part of the city along the Tagus River that used to be occupied by abandoned warehouses and low-cost rental housing, and it was designed to become a public park once the World Fair ended. With data obtained from public and private tourism agencies and companies, scholarly articles, as well photographs from the author's fieldwork, this interactive short paper will present information pertaining to the present-day success of the Park of Nations as a tourist attraction in the city of Lisbon.
