Abstract:
There has been a marked increase in the number and complexity of university educational travel programs in the past two decades. A body of scholarly literature has emerged to follow this trend and it is growing rapidly to include critical pedagogical, economic, and social perspectives. Yet despite this increased interest, there are very few critical studies that investigate issues of environmental sustainability in student travel programs. This study contributes to this literature by offering an empirical qualitative analysis that explores the sustainability of educational travel programs affiliated with institutions of higher education.
